I’m not who you think I am...
Oh, I pretend well enough, I suppose.
Perhaps....
But you don’t know who I am.
You think you do.
You think you see through all the masks
Through all the poses
Down to the ‘real me’.
But you don’t know who I am.
How can you think you would know
The ‘real’ me
Even if you saw me?
I’m not who you think I am.
I’m not even close to being that person.
I’m much different than she...
We don’t look the same.
We don’t act the same.
We don’t even think the same.
What she values is not what I value.
What is important to her
Is trivial and petty to me.
I’m not who you think I am.
That person is someone else.
You must be mistaken,
Because I know I’m not.
Or am I?
Could I be mistaken?
AM I that person you think you know?
Oh, I hope not!
Her views are so limited, limiting...
Her world is so small, binding, choking...
I pretend to be her, sometimes...
Sometimes....
I pretend to be her, because that is who you want to see.
